For two years we have been working to bring our dream of a eco-friendly, nature hotel to life here on the shore of Laguna Bacalar. Whether you are here to relax, to hike, to bird, to bike, or to explore the ruins and the region, we make sure you have a comfortable and relaxing stay and that your interests are met. Our staff work side by side with us to provide good food and attentive care amid Ecotucan's completely natural surroundings.

We are very happy and lucky to have a loyal, knowledgeable, and trustworthy staff. Our kitchen is managed by two mothers working to support their families. Our velador (caretaker) is a 90 year old Mayan man who has worked with us for over three years and who routinely advises us on animals, birds, plants and horticulture.

Our ground keepers are a young, capable couple and their baby, indigenous people from a small nearby town. We offer all our workers both fair treatment and fair pay as well as the opportunity to grow as we grow. We value their local knowledge and the wisdom they share.
